Fifteen holes in the Sonoran desert. McCormick Ranch Palm runs flat through the planned community that surrounds it, with mature trees lining most corridors and enough water features to keep things interesting without making you hunt for balls. The layout works fine on foot. No dramatic elevation shifts, reasonable distances between green and tee, and morning temps in the shoulder seasons make walking the obvious call. Cart culture dominates Scottsdale golf, but this one doesn't punish you for going against the grain. Show up early, beat the heat, and you'll have a solid walk through a neighborhood track that's been doing its job since the seventies.
