Nine holes at 9,000 feet in the Sacramento Mountains
Nine holes at 9,000 feet in the Sacramento Mountains. Altitude adds yards to your drives and steals breath from your lungs. Built in 1899, it's one of the oldest courses in the American West, and the condition reads like it. Tight fairways wind through ponderosa pines. The layout stays compact enough that walking works, even with the thin air grinding you down. Green fees are cheap. The mountain setting keeps temperatures cool when the rest of New Mexico bakes. Not worth driving here alone. If you're in Cloudcroft, play it.
