Jack Nicklaus built this layout on a Superfund site
Jack Nicklaus built this layout on a Superfund site. Black slag bunkers from the old copper smelter give it a look unlike anything else in golf. The terrain moves gently through the reclaimed industrial land, with walking distances between holes that stay reasonable throughout. At 5,300 feet elevation, the thin mountain air adds carry but also demands fitness. Anaconda sits in a valley surrounded by peaks, so the views reward the effort. The course sprawls across former mining property, so expect some longer green-to-tee transitions on the back nine. A pushcart handles the grades fine. Worth the walk just to see what they did with the place.
